Bring the family and come check out our community garden! Opening Day for the Community Garden will be Saturday, April 20, from 10:00 to 2:00.  You may come and get your hands dirty, or marvel at the garden and all the improvements. The address is 1207 West Rebound Road, beside the baseball diamond at White Oak.  Fun activities for the entire family will include:

  • a display of a refurbished Korean War Jeep
  • a display of specialty vehicles from Fab Fours, located in Lancaster
  • an information period from Josh Davis, a Van Wyck resident with a decade of growing expertise with citrus trees
    • At 11:00, Josh will speak on how to nurture citrus trees in containers. You will want to hear his valuable insights on cultivating your own citrus trees.
    • To top off the festivities, Josh has donated a Meyers lemon tree for a free raffle at 11:30.
  • There will be opportunities to experience:
    • Making wildflower bombs with recycled paper and clay
    • Wildflower seed spreading on the property
    • Ladybug release
    • Adult and children rock painting
    • A table for children to create healthy "pretend insect" snacks using fruits and vegetables (carrots, celery, cucumbers, peanut butter, non-peanut spread, pretzel chips, strawberries, blueberries, and grapes.
    • Fire truck bounce house!

We want to make the garden opening a yearly community event, where people can come and mingle, meet their neighbors, learn a bit from guest speakers, and enjoy themselves. Please help us ensure the first gardening event is a success! I look forward to seeing you at this special event on April 20. Thank you! Your community garden coordinator and neighbor,Res Hauck
